A week ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Bild that Erik Durm was on the verge of a move to Huddersfield Town.

The Borussia Dortmund player has had a shocking time with injuries and picking up a World Cup winners’ medial in 2014 must seem a long time ago for the footballer.

David Wagner was said to be leading the Huddersfield chase to sign Durm, having worked with the player before, whilst they were both at Borussia Dortmund II. The idea behind the move was Wagner getting the 26 year old back on track, with Bild saying he’s now fully fit.

Then came claims from England that the deal was slipping away, but Bild have it differently.

In a late night Thursday article on Dortmund transfer business they state Durm to Huddersfield is ‘nearing completion’.

There’s a possibility the English doubt on the deal was wrong, but there’s also a chance Huddersfield want some assurances over the deal given Durm hasn’t played since May 2017.

Usually in these circumstances a loan with an automatic buying clause, after a certain number of appearances, would make sense, but Durm’s BVB contract runs out next summer and that would be an issue.
