Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have a rather big feature on Paul Pogba in their Tuesday edition. It’s claimed that things are starting to get serious on a Manchester United move, after weeks of speculation.
Gazzetta claim ‘the negtoation is now taking shape’ and it has reached the ‘decisive phase’.
Whilst Pogba is Miami, cooking himself barbecues and diving, the Italian newspaper say his agent Mino Raiola has flown to Manchester to hear what the club have to offer.
That would contradict claims of personal terms already being agreed, but we can roll with it for now. Pogba would be offered €12m per season on a five year contract, and Manchester United would pay Juventus €125m for the player’s services.
It’s stated that Juventus would only get €100m of that, because a gentleman’s agreement previously reached means Pogba gets 20%, €25m.
Gazzetta reiterate claims from English newspaper The Sun that Pogba could have a medical today, and then say they’ve not been able to get any kind of confirmation on this. Sounds a little premature.
It’s dubbed Manchester United’s ‘final attack’ for Pogba, but there doesn’t appear to be a whole lot new here. That’s probably because everything has been claimed already, true or not. And if terms haven’t been agreed then that’s a step backward, but Gazzetta insist things are moving forward.
It does feel like a jump forward has been made today, there are claims all over Italy, it’ll be interesting to see how the day, and tomorrow, turns out. It should be clear soon if there’s real concrete progress, or whether hot air is just heating itself further.
