Fulham have taken steps to sign Alessio Romagnoli this summer, according to multiple claims coming out of Italy.
The defender’s contract at AC Milan expires in less than a week’s time and he was expected to join Lazio as a free agent this summer.
After months of negotiations between the 27-year-old and the Biancocelesti, the two have still not found an agreement. That’s according to Alfredo Pedullà, who states the centre-back, at most, will wait for a week, likely for Lazio to make a convincing offer.
Lazio’s refusal to seal the deal for the Italy international allowed the Cottagers to get into the picture as they are ‘ready to close’ the deal. The Serie A side didn’t make progress to tie down the centre-back because their sporting director, Igli Tare, has failed to offload Francesco Acerbi.
The newly promoted Premier League side are in a position to propose a better economic offer to Romagnoli, that only the top Serie A clubs could match.
However, Sky Italia add he is ‘not enthusiastic’ about joining Fulham and continues to wait for Lazio to make an improved offer.
Romagnoli, as per Alfredo Pedullà, will wait for a week. With Fulham already making an offer, they will find out in the coming few days whether Lazio can manage to agree a deal with the defender.
