Benjamin Quarez, who works for France’s version of Goal, is reporting Manchester United have submitted an initial offer for Moussa Dembele.
The Premier League club have been repeatedly linked with the striker in recent months, and L’Equipe covered that again on Friday. It was explained that United, along with Atletico Madrid, are keeping an eye on the player’s situation.
However, the French newspaper said selling Dembele less than a year after signing him from Celtic wouldn’t give a good impression of Lyon’s future project planning.
Quarez states Manchester United have sent an offer ‘exceeding €40m’ for the player. That would see Lyon almost double their money, but there’s no indication what the response has been from the French club.
The 22 year old joined Lyon in the last summer transfer window from Celtic, having been linked with a move for several transfer windows before that.
Recent claims, which started in France, explained Manchester United scouts had been sent to watch the striker for Lyon on several occasions. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wasn’t just interested in what happened on the pitch, and wanted to find out about the player’s attitude.
It’s worth noting that when Dembele was at Celtic, there were endless claims around his future each transfer window.
