If you follow a lot of footballers on social media, you’ll notice that, in their spare time, they enjoy a good prank or two.

Some go down better with the public than others, but, a lot of the time, you hear about them in interviews, when players are asked who’s the biggest joker in the dressing room and so on.

Well, for former Leeds United forward Jordan Botaka, there’s one prank in particular he’ll always remember during his time at Elland Road: when the whole team ganged up on him.

Signing for the Championship side in 2015 from SBV Excelsior, the DR Congo midfielder stayed two years in the north of England, which also included a loan to Charlton, before returning to Belgium, where his football had career started.

Now at Sint-Truiden, the 24-year-old gave an interview to Sport Foot and recalled one of his more vivid Leeds United memories.

He said: “My teammates made me believe on the team’s WhatsApp group that we needed to turn up in a suit for the game the next day. I believed them, and, of course, I was the only one who wasn’t dressed in the club’s tracksuit… How embarrassing.”

After leaving Leeds United in a free transfer over the summer, Botaka has been near ever present for the Jupiler Pro League side, scoring two goals and picking up an assist in 13 appearances.

He also fell for another prank from one of his teammates, who told him the manager wanted to see him in his office.

He didn’t.
