The Germain media continues to bring updates on RB Leipzig’s pursuit for Chelsea striker Timo Werner.
The chase from the Bundesliga side has now been made public, with club director Christopher Vivell talking about their interest in the player.
Speaking to Sky Deutschland journalist Philipp Hinze, the official admitted their chase for Werner is real, despite highlighting there’s still no agreement with Chelsea for the transfer.
“Of course we find him exciting, he’s incredibly fast and a Germany international. We have been in exchange with him since his transfer. But we are not close to a deal and will only announce something when it makes sense,” said Hinze (via Florian Plettenberg).
Werner recently made public his frustration with the lack of playing time at Chelsea, and since manager Thomas Tuchel didn’t take it well, his exit is now the most likely scenario for the summer.
Reports from Germany say Werner would move to RB Leipzig on a loan with an option for a permanent deal, and his relationship with his former club would convince him of taking a pay cut for the move.
