Dennis Praet was linked with a return to Italian football since not long after he left Sampdoria for Leicester City in 2019.
The Belgian had long been tempted by a move to the Premier League and wanted to take his chance with the Foxes, and the Genoa side were able to make themselves a reasonable profit.
Despite that, in near enough every window since, the Italian media talked up a return to Serie A. As Praet struggled to fulfil lofty expectations at Leicester, those claims only grew further.
In the summer, he eventually returned to Italy, and signed on a loan basis for Torino, with the club having an option to make the move permanent.
Praet has had a reasonable period with Torino, playing 17 Serie A matches but only getting the full 90 minutes on a few occasions.
Now he faces a blow, with Torino reporting the player has fractured the ‘fifth metatarsal of the right foot’.
There’s no return date yet, and Praet, and indeed Leicester, will hope he can return in time to impress Torino enough that they make the move permanent.
