With Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent interview about his dissatisfaction at Manchester United getting such huge coverage, even players who are not his teammates have been speaking about this subject.

This is the case of Aston Villa fullback Ludwig Augustinsson, who when speaking today to the Swedish media, had a few comments to make about the situation.

Augustinsson claimed the Manchester United star should have handled the situation a lot better, saying his statements were ‘unnecessary’.

“It could have been handled much nicer. He knows that there will be such turbulence when he makes such statements. As a player in another team and from the outside, you think it feels unnecessary,” said Augustinsson (via Fotbollskanalen).

“I’m surprised because it feels so explosive. It’s a lot of things at once. There is so much talk about this. Certainly in the club and of course in the whole world, because he is one of the best players of all time.”

Augustinsson recalled that he became aware of Ronaldo’s interview along with his Aston Villa teammate Robin Olsen, pointing out they raised their eyebrows when seeing the quotes from the Manchester United player.

“When me and Robin saw it in London, we were surprised. It could have been done better. You notice that he is frustrated.”

The Aston Villa player was then asked if he’s ‘curious’ enough to ask his Sweden teammates Victor Lindelof and Anthony Elanga for more information on this controversial situation. The fullback, however, claimed he doesn’t want to bother the Manchester United players with that.

“Of course you can be, but I don’t want to lie about it. You leave it at that and don’t want to ask too much.”

Fotbollskanalen points that Lindelof doesn’t even want to talk about this subject with the Swedish media, as he’s been rejecting all questions on that matter.
