Even though reports in the European media continue to say that Manchester United are very close to the signing of Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, a little setback is reported by the Italian press today.

Newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport writes a few lines about this pursuit, and claims the Red Devils have actually taken a step back in the talks.

It’s said that even though the transfer seemed ‘a step away’, Manchester United are ‘lowballing’ by only offering just €20m for the transfer.

It was well known that Fiorentina were demanding €25m plus bonuses to try and reach €30m, so that places the Red Devils a little far from an agreement with the Serie A side.

La Viola are actually waiting for their money to keep up with their summer signings, so it’s not like they’re offering a big resistance to the deal.

Gazetta Dello Sport pretty much makes it sound like Manchester United knew they could easily find a deal with Fiorentina and now test the ground to see if the transfer can be done for less. Now we shall see who’ll bend first.
