Earlier today, we covered a story from Switzerland regarding Everton’s interest in Leo Lacroix.
The gist of the article was that the Toffees had been tracking the AS Saint-Etienne defender, currently on loan at Basel, and had been impressed with his performances since moving to his new club, especially against Manchester City.
Everton were said to be ready to pay around £7m for the centre-back, an area they need to bolster desperately, and we’ll have to see what happens in the coming months.
Since then, Sport Witness have had it confirmed, per a source close to the player, that the Toffees have indeed been knocking on Lacroix’s door, and the 26-year-old would be very interested in a move to Goodison Park should it present itself.
There is one issue, however, being that the Swiss defender is currently on loan, and FC Basel have an option to buy.
The amount of said clause has yet to be revealed, but it would make sense for the Super League club to make the deal permanent before selling him on for a profit to a cash rich Premier League side.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens, but, as of mid-March, Everton are definitely keen on signing Lacroix.
