Chelsea performed pretty well at the Camp Nou despite losing the match 3-0 to Barcelona.

And if Chelsea playing well in Spain means one thing for the more excitable parts of their football media, then that’s open season on linking the club’s players with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Sure, there’s the usual suspects like Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois, but that would be too obvious. Diario Gol have used a little more imagination than usual and linked Marcos Alonso to Real Madrid instead.

It’s claimed Marcos Alonso could be a ‘bargain’ purchase from Chelsea with a ‘market value’ of €30m.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to have contacted Alonso’s ‘environment’ and has got the ‘ok’ of the player who is ‘more than happy’ with the idea of transferring from Chelsea to the Spanish club.

We’re not buying it yet, and it doesn’t really matter what Diario Gol think Alonso’s value is, it’d be down to Chelsea.

That said, Alonso was also linked to Real Madrid last month so perhaps we’re being unfair and there’s something more in this one.
