The rumours around Steven N’Zonzi’s departure from Sevilla continue to get bigger everyday, especially because the player and the club aren’t afraid of speaking about his situation.
And with Everton recently being linked to him, there’s a good reason why the Toffees should pay attention to these quotes.
The midfielder has recently confirmed his future will not be at the Spanish side, since his relationship with manager Eduardo Berizzo has fallen apart.
N’Zonzi has also dismissed the rumours that he would be in London negotiating with an English club. According to him, he was just ‘seeing his son’, who lives in the city.
Following all of that, Sevilla president José Castro has commented in a press conference both on the player’s visit to London and his future at the club.
“We have given him permission to see his son in London, he has made some statements that when he comes to training on Thursday we will ask him about. The reality is that he is not entering into the plans of the manager, it’s what I can tell you, that does not mean it can’t change at any time,” Castro said (via Estadio Deportivo).
“There is a contract and obligations to fulfil, if there is a solution that satisfies the two parties we will see, otherwise he’s our player, he has two and a half years of contract and will have to fulfil them.”
Since Everton have been recently mentioned as the potential destination for the Frenchman, the club should really take this as a message that things will not be so easy to sign him.
Some rumours claimed that €30m would be enough to take N’Zonzi from Sevilla, although it’s still to be seen if the clubs start negotiating.
