For the past couple of days, we’ve been seeing reports claiming that Tottenham Hotspur are now the main club in the chase for Benfica striker Haris Seferovic.
Now even though Spurs’ interest in the player is today highlighted by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, they make it clear that two other Premier League sides are pursuing the 29-year-old as well.
According to the outlet, Everton and West Ham United have both been in touch for the signing of the Benfica star.
Their report says the Toffees and Hammers both ‘collected references’ about the player, and in the last contacts, the possibility of offers was ‘left open’.
Most stories from the Portuguese media say Benfica demand €25m for Seferovic. O Jogo confirms that information, but adds that the Eagles could end up accepting a little less. That’s because they’re keen on making the sale, and considering that the market is still recovering from the pandemic crisis, they understand that clubs won’t show up full of cash.
Besides scoring three goals at the Euros, two of them against France, Seferovic also had a very good season for Benfica, with 26 goals and seven assists in 48 appearances.
He’s been linked to a few Premier League sides in the past, but this story from O Jogo makes it sound like Everton and West Ham could make serious competition for Tottenham in this chase.
