Wolverhampton Wanderers have still not given up on keeping Vitinha at the club, according to today’s reports from the Portuguese media.

Following the signing of the Porto midfielder on a one-year loan last summer, the Molineux side had the chance to keep him by triggering the €20m clause agreed by the sides.

And even though that option wasn’t used before the deadline, newspaper O Jogo today writes that there’s still a chance of a deal.

The outlet claims that Wolves ‘asked for time’, as they didn’t have the money to use the buying option before the 30th of June.

O Jogo says Wolves now asked Porto to hold the clause until July 20th. The Dragons then contacted UEFA to know the chances of keeping the sale as a transfer of the 2020/21 season for Financial Fair Play. It seems there’s been no response yet, but there’s ‘hope of a positive answer’.

The newspaper still points out that the Premier League side had gone through a similar situation when renegotiating the signing of Rayan Ait Nouri from Angers. Despite a buying option of €21m, it’s said the Molineux side ended up finding an agreement for only €11m, giving the French club 50% of a future sale.

It’s just not clear if Porto would give any discounts for Vitinha and accept a similar deal.
