Last week, Spanish giants Real Madrid announced the signing of Eder Militão from Porto. The Galaticos have triggered the defender’s €50m release clause to have him in the next transfer window.
As in August 2018 Militão left São Paulo to join the Portuguese side for only €7m, website UOL brings a story today telling how the player’s value grew that much… and Everton are featured.
When the player started to shine at Porto, the Brazilian media started claiming that clubs such as Everton and Manchester United were both interested in him.
Now UOL’s story says the same, this time claiming the contacts from the Premier League sides were no more than ‘flirts’. Besides the Red Devils and Toffees, there were also contacts from Barcelona and many other sides.
It’s said that these ‘flirts’, however, have helped to raise the player’s value, and pressure Real Madrid into a quick deal, with things getting to the point that he would leave for seven times more just a few months later.
Everton have quite possibly been used, with their purchase of Yerry Mina seen as proof they’re willing to spend big on a South American defender.
