According to a claim in the Turkish media, Everton are set to offer €12m to sign Besiktas midfielder Oğuzhan Ozyakup.
The 25 year old has been linked with Everton in recent months following reports the player’s agent has been in talks with the Toffees.
Hurriyet today report Ozyakup could be on his way to Everton this summer after becoming unhappy about his situation with the Turkish club. The midfielder has struggled for form this season and subsequently he’s found himself on the substitute bench.
Despite claims Ozyakup has committed himself to Besiktas by extending his contract there are reports he has a €12m clause, which Everton are looking to activate.
The Premier League side previously held discussions with his agent, and these were centered on what salary the English club were prepared to offer.
Ozyakup has also been linked with Arsenal but Hurriyet say with Arsene Wenger leaving the club this puts further doubt on a return to the Emirates.
A problem for the Everton deal, according to Hurriyet, is that Arsenal are due 30% of the transfer fee and Besiktas have been trying to wriggle out of this for more than a year.
