Beşiktaş are showing interest in Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and could open preliminary talks with him in January.
That’s according to Fotomaç, who also believe that there may be the possibility of a loan deal being agreed between the two sides.
They say that while Beşiktaş have been searching for a striker for next season, with Domenico Berardi on their list, they’ve also become aware of Calvert-Lewin.
His contract with Everton expires next summer and an extension is currently looking unlikely so the 27-year-old will be free to start preliminary talks from 1st January with any interested parties.
Juventus are already believed to have done so and Beşiktaş could join them as they both look to secure a free transfer.
Calvert-Lewin is believed to be open to the idea of a move to Beşiktaş but is also being monitored by Arsenal, Newcastle United and Manchester United.
He wants to ‘show himself in a team that is playing for the championship’ and Beşiktaş believe they can present themselves as a good opportunity for him. They regularly compete for the Super Lig title and it’s a ‘more comfortable league’.
Fotomaç then add that if Beşiktaş management get in touch with Everton there could be a loan deal on the cards, but why that would be the case isn’t made clear. It seems unlikely given any such deal would essentially be Everton giving Calvert-Lewin away for free early if he doesn’t sign a new deal.
Either way, Beşiktaş are in the mix for the striker, whose expiring contract is now being seen as an opportunity by more than one club outside of the Premier League.
