Davy Klaassen to Werder Bremen is almost done, reports De Telegraaf on Thursday afternoon.

The reliable Dutch newspaper states: ‘The former Ajax player has an agreement with Werder Bremen on a contract for four years and flies Thursday afternoon from Liverpool to Germany. He will receive a medical examination on Thursday evening or Friday morning.’

Claims of a potential move to Werder Bremen appeared on a news website covering the club at the weekend. Bild then picked up the story and the German newspaper reported Everton were willing to accept a €15m transfer fee.

Talks were said to have been ongoing for weeks, but the Dutchman hadn’t yet made his mind up.

Huddersfield Town were also said to be interested and then came a nonsensical claim from England that the Terriers were prepared to pay £23m for the player.

That was quickly dismissed in Germany, and Kicker reported Werder met Klaassen on Wednesday morning.

De Telegraaf explain that whilst Klaassen had at first been eager to prove himself at Everton following a difficult first season, things have since changed and he’s set to play in the Bundesliga next season.
