Already a reported target for a number of Premier League clubs back in January, including Newcastle United, Bamba Dieng has more chances of leaving this summer.
The forward was an important part of Jorge Sampaoli’s set up last season, but the arrival of Igor Tudor at Marseille has since changed matters a little.
That’s why other clubs from the Premier League have come forward at various points this summer, including Everton and Fulham.
Foot Mercato are the ones reporting this, claiming Newcastle, the Toffees and the Craven Cottage side have all ‘tested the waters’ for the forward, but that’s as far as they’ve gone.
That’s because neither the Magpies, Everton nor Fulham, alongside Benfica, have been ‘ready to align themselves with the amount desired by Marseille, which is €15m’.
OGC Nice are the latest to have joined the fray, while Foot Mercato believe Lorient are also there, even if they don’t have the same appeal as the Premier League sides.
It’s a well known fact that Everton are looking for attacking reinforcements this summer, as the Toffees look to rely on someone other than Dominic Calvert-Lewin throughout an entire campaign.
As for Newcastle, their reported desire to sign someone like Gonçalo Ramos also points to that fact, while Fulham are looking for someone a bit more versatile, as shown by their alleged interest in Justin Kluivert.
With Dieng more than capable to play from the left or through the middle, he fits a similar profile for Marco Silva, but clearly not at €15m.
In the meantime, both the player and Marseille ‘are still hoping for a firm transfer offer from an English club by August 31st’.
