Nearly midway through the winter transfer window, Sport Witness revealed that Everton, Leicester City and West Ham were all keen on signing Jonathan Cafu from Ludogorets.
Each of the clubs had held talks with Cafu’s representatives regarding a potential January deal for the Brazilian winger. Cafu has been putting in an impressive season, and his performances in Europe have helped attract interest from many clubs. Everton, Leicester and West Ham were looking to get in there ahead of others.
Ludogoets weren’t too keen to sell their star player during January and none of the clubs mentioned were prepared to wow them enough with a huge offer.
Towards the end of the window sources told Sport Witness that Crystal Palace and West Ham were in the lead, at that stage Everton and Leicester had taken a back seat. Still, no agreement was found.
The interest continues, with it reported this week that Leicester, West Ham and Everton watched Cafu in the Europa League on Thursday night against Copenhagen.
