Everton are in the ‘last stage’ of negotiations with Dynamo Kyiv for defender Vitaliy Mykolenko, who will be made official after January 1st.
That’s according to Ukrainian journalist Ihor Tsyhanyk, who says the two clubs are ‘very close’ to completing the deal for the full-back.
Mykolenko has been heavily linked with a move to Everton over the last week, seemingly as a replacement for Lucas Digne, who has fallen out with manager Rafa Benitez.
Reports in England have indicated that a deal is close to being announced, with Mykolenko believed to have already travelled to Merseyside and undergone a medical.
That was backed up in Ukraine, where they stated that the defender had returned from the medical and was simply waiting for things to be finalised.
It seems that is very much the case, with Tsyhanyk now picking up in the story and providing an update of when things are likely to be made official.
“Official information on Mykolenko’s transfer to Everton will be after January 1,” UA Football report him saying.
“As far as I understand, the last stage of negotiations is underway. The clubs are very close to completing everything. Mykolenko’s transfer will amount to 20 million.
“I spoke with Igor Surkis (Dynamo Kyiv president), who is very glad that there is interest in Ukrainian footballers.
“And he confirmed that he really promised the players that if worthy offers come, he will give them a chance to prove themselves in other clubs.”
