Everton are one of the clubs interested in Matías Vecino, according to reports coming out of Italy.
The Toffees wanted the 30-year-old previously and held talks with Inter Milan. A deal didn’t materialse because the Merseyside club were not willing to meet the demands set by the Nerazzurri.
Vecino struggled to have prominence under Antonio Conte last season and the situation hasn’t improved after Simone Inzaghi arrived at the San Siro in the summer. The midfielder has made 11 league appearances this season, but it includes only one start.
FcInterNews state the Uruguayan’s situation is unlikely to change in the coming weeks. With a contract expiring next June, his agent, Alessandro Lucci, is ‘trying to understand the conditions for a farewell’ in the upcoming window.
Napoli are a suitor, but there are ‘two more clubs interested’. This is when Rafael Benítez’s side get a mention. Everton, who ‘already came forward a year ago’, have carried out a poll for the player. An unnamed Spanish club have also asked about Vecino.
Vecino’s agent is at work, trying to get his client out of the Italian club. Inter leaders would ‘not object’ the South American’s transfer next month, if ‘there was an alternative and the player asked for a sale’.
