Everton striker Cenk Tosun turned down a potential move to Fenerbahce to secure a return to form club Besiktas in January.

That’s according to Sabah, who say Fenerbahce pulled out all the stops to try and secure the Everton man’s signature.

Tosun returned to his former club at the end of the January transfer window, signing on loan until the end of the season after finding himself out of favour at Goodison Park.

The Süper Lig side were not the only ones keen, with Spartak Moscow, Celta Vigo and West Bromwich Albion all having been named as suitors across January.

We can now add Fenerbahce to that list, with Sabah reporting that they also made an offer to the Turkish striker in January.

According to their information, the Everton man met with Fener’s former sports director Damien Comolli, with him even travelling to England to meet him personally and discuss a move.

He, though, ‘received a negative response’ from Tosun, who also turned down current sports director Emre Belözoglu, who received a similar response when he got in touch.

The striker made it clear he only wanted a return to Besiktas and finally got his wish, with him now there until the end of the season at least and already making an impact, having already scored a double in his first game back.
