As Fulham continue their chase for Fluminense midfielder André, they may start to find some tougher competition for his signing.

A story from Catalan outlet Sport today claims that Barcelona are also analysing the player, with their director Deco gathering information on the potential transfer for months now.

Since it’s well known that the La Liga giants have financial issues, there’d be difficulty buying him in January. So unlike Fulham, they’d need to loan him from Fluminense for six months and only then get the purchase done next summer.

The advantage Barcelona would have is that they have a ‘good relationship’ with the other parties involved. Firstly, because Deco played at Fluminense and has good contacts with the club. Then it’s said there’s also a good friendship with André’s agents.

The midfielder’s market value is said to be €30m, so the Camp Nou side would need to work on that. Sport do not give Fulham a mention in their story, even though the player said this week that playing in the Premier League is a dream of his.
