Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web this week features a piece on the rise of Sporting youngster Tiago Tomas.
The website says the 19-year-old is one of the biggest talents in Portugal at the moment, and while he stands out in his country, there are of course clubs from abroad keeping an eye on him.
There are only two sides named in the story, which are Roma and ‘especially Arsenal’. And Tutto Mercato Web has some interesting words about the Gunners’ interest.
It’s claimed that the London side are ‘crazy’ about the youngster, who’s considered to be the future of Portugal’s attack.
The report says Tiago Tomas isn’t moving in January, with Sporting also looking to hold him in the summer as well. However, the ‘specialists’ consider that this is the right time to buy him, and that’s why it’s a matter of ‘now or never’ for the Italians.
There isn’t any information on how much the striker would cost, despite TMW pointing out that Sporting are an ‘expensive shop’. He’s currently valued by Trnansfermarkt at €6m, but protected by a release clause of €60m, so there’s a big gap for Arsenal to negotiate in.
