Lucas Torreira is currently with Uruguay, who are preparing the 2019 Copa America quarter-final tie against Peru.

Two days ago, the midfielder spoke to journalists and stressed he is happy at Arsenal, amid recent speculation linking him with a move to AC Milan.

On June 27th, Gazzetta dello Sport stated the player’s comments were ‘diplomatic’ and insisted he’s informed his agent he is looking to leave the Emirates in the summer transfer window.

Another Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport now claims the Europa League winners have said ‘no’ to the sale of the 23-year-old in any way, that’s either on loan deal or a permanent transfer.

It’s claimed Unai Emery has instructed his employer not to let the South American leave the club.

This has also been relayed by Calciomercato, who claim Milan’s dream of signing Torreira will only remain a dream because the former PSG boss ‘vetoed’ the sale. The manager considered the player vital for Arsenal.

Torreira joined the north London club from Sampdoria on a five-year deal last summer.

The Italian website states Arsenal will soon start talking to his agent about the possibility of extending the contract beyond 2023.
