Despite all the recent rumours saying Lucas Torreira could be leaving Arsenal for AC Milan this summer, the player himself has turned it down.

The midfielder was one of those who gave a press conference this Wednesday in Rio de Janeiro, where Uruguay are preparing for the Copa America quarterfinals.

Speaking to journalists, Torreira has claimed that he’s now recovered from an injury and should be fit to play. He’s also said that knows nothing about the Milan rumours.

“I trained normally, I feel better. Little by little I’m recovering my physical condition, I lost three kilos. I think I will get to the game in a very good way,” Torreira told journalists (via Juan Pablo Romero). “I have no knowledge of Milan’s interest, nobody has called me. I’m happy to be part of Arsenal.”

Torreira was brought on at the end of the 4-0 win over Ecuador, started in the 2-2 draw against Japan, and missed the 1-0 win over Chile.

For the quarterfinals, there’s some expectation he could make it to the starting team if he’s completely fit. Uruguay will be playing Peru on Saturday, and in case they go through, they face either Colombia or Chile in the semifinals.
