FC Lorient midfielder Matteo Guendouzi is all but set to join Arsenal, if reports coming from France are to be believed.
The 19-year-old came up through the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain’s system before joining Lorient’s academy in 2014.
He spent two years with the latter’s youth system before making his way into the first team in 2016.
Guendouzi made eight appearances for Mickaël Landreau’s side in the Ligue 1, while has 18 appearances to his name in the Ligue 2 with Lorient B last season. His display has seen him emerge as a transfer target for the Gunners.
Ouset-France claims the 19-year-old is expected to be an Arsenal player in the ‘coming days’. The French outlet also suggested Guendouzi has his medical scheduled on July 9th.
The midfielder’s contract with their current employer runs down after the end of the next season. The report claims Guendouzi is expected to sign a four year deal with Unai Emery’s side and Arsenal will pay €8m plus bonuses to Lorient to secure the player’s signature.
L’Equipe reports Emery has personally convinced the player to make the move.
