Imaginary Everton and Arsenal transfer offers have irked Germany’s Bild.
Bild explain that two sides, ‘according to the English media’, are ‘hot’ for Thorgan Hazard, but the €17m figure being floated around would be more realistic if it were twice that, according to the German newspaper.
The Sun went on to say ‘The former Chelsea man, and younger sibling to the current Blues star, has enjoyed a successful season with Borussia Monchengladbach.
But he is said to be up for a return to the Premier League with two of the top flight’s biggest sides showing interest, report Mercato.’
Mercato? Jeunes Footeux is a France website we’d never encountered before. They’re not called Mercato, but the begging of their Hazard headline had Mercato in it.
The French website claims that Everton and Arsenal are keen on the Germany based Belgium, and that he wouldn’t be against the idea.
A potential price is put at €18m, which ended up as £15.5m in The Sun, and €17m in Bild. Whichever currency or language this one is taken from, it seems to be nonsense laundered through several sources to make it seem slightly more believable.
How long before there are English reports claiming ‘German newspaper links Everton and Arsenal with Hazard’? Hours, probably.
