Despite Tottenham Hotspur’s efforts to get Lucas Bergvall signed from Djurgårdens IF in this transfer window, it seems that’s not happening for now.

Spurs have been battling Barcelona for the signing, and after meeting both clubs, the player spent some time choosing where to go.

An update on his situation is now brought by Fotboll Skanalen, who have Djurgårdens IF director Bosse Anderson explaining that Bergvall is staying for a few more months.

Without mentioning Tottenham or Barcelona, the club chief claims there will be a deal for the player to move in the summer, but his destination won’t be revealed yet.

“It’s pretty quiet on that issue. Then there has been a lot of speculation, and you have probably noticed the interest. There has been a lot of speculation, and we’ve had concrete discussions with very large clubs in Europe. We’ll see what happens. We’re not affected by the window closing at midnight. We discuss that Lucas will play in Djurgården during the spring, then we will see which club he ends up in.”

Andersson didn’t want to comment on the claims regarding the price Bergvall will leave for, but made it clear that it will all be revealed soon.

“Lucas turns 18 tomorrow, and that is a basis for signing a longer contract. Thus, we are discussing a transfer in the summer. You don’t have to wait for anything tonight. Sometime in February I think we can present where Lucas will play football, but he will play in Djurgården until this summer.”

Journalists in Spain this week claimed that Bergvall had chosen Barcelona, but Football Skanalen is still sure that no one has won the race yet, with Tottenham still in the mix.

With such certainty that nothing will be done before midnight, that only gives the player more time to think and choose his next destination.
