Despite being called up for international duty with Denmark’s national team, it seems Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen could end up not representing his country in the coming weeks.

The 25-year-old got injured in Chelsea’s Champions League clash against Lille last week, with a hamstring issue which forced him to be replaced in the first half.

Christensen was then left out of the Blues’ squad which faced Middlesbrough in the FA Cup at the weekend, and despite still being included for the international break, he may sit out for a while.

Speaking to the local media, Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand ruled out the player from the first match, claiming there’s only a chance he’ll play next week.

“Andreas has not come, and I can say that it is very uncertain whether we will see him,” said Hjulmand (via Bold).

“He is definitely out of the picture against Holland, and then we try to see if we can look towards Tuesday, but it does not look so good right now.”

Denmark have two friendlies coming up. They first face the Netherlands on Saturday and then Serbia on Tuesday.

Chelsea, who may be worried about the recovery time Christensen has ahead of him, are only back in action on the 2nd of April, as they welcome Brentford at the Stamford Bridge.

Then they have the Champions League’s first tie against Real Madrid.
