Watford and Blackburn Rovers are eyeing a move for Reading’s Amadou Mbengue in the summer window due to his contract situation.

The 23-year-old has less than three months left on his contract and hasn’t yet signed an extension with Reading.

Watford, Blackburn Rovers and Stade Brest are all looking to take advantage of the centre-back’s contract situation at Reading, according to Africa Foot.

The three clubs are aiming to improve their defence and the profile of the centre-back has met their requirements.

Watford, Blackburn Rovers and the Ligue 1 club have already made contacts to try and secure his services for free in the next window. The report further adds ‘discussions are underway’ with the three clubs, but they don’t specify his preference.

Mbengue’s desire is to move to a club higher than the third division which could rule out a move to Reading. He’s also looking for a project where he can have an important role.

Blackburn Rovers and Watford both have 56 points and are currently 10th and 11th in the Championship table. Stade Brest, on the other hand, are sixth in the Ligue 1 table.

Mbengue has an opportunity to move to the Championship or to the top division in France in the summer.
