David Luiz returning to Chelsea may have had a bit of negativity attached to it, but the club’s recent defensive form can’t be criticised.
Chelsea haven’t conceded a goal in any of their last five league games, which were all won by Antonio Conte’s side.
The player also talked about David Luiz’s importance when the team has the ball: “He has a quality that his build up gives us an extra possibility to play. That is, besides being good at the back, safe, stealing the ball.”
But despite the good form, David Luiz hasn’t been called up to the Brazil national team for the games against Argentina and Peru. Some very high profile bad performances for Brazil seem to have proven costly.
Diego Costa will be a good example to his Chelsea teammate of how international fortunes can turn around. With nine goals in eleven matches, he’s the league’s top scorer, and back in the Spanish national team after being called up by manager Julen Lopetegui.
