Early last week, we covered a couple of claims from France that Yohan Cabaye was set for talks to renew his Crystal Palace contract.
With his current deal running out at the end of June, the veteran midfielder is currently free to talk to clubs regarding a potential free transfer, and Marseille have been the most heavily linked.
The idea would be for a reunion between Yohan Cabaye and Rudi Garcia, who enjoyed some very successful years together at Lille, but the Ligue 1 side are yet to make a move.
According to Le10 Sport, Marseille were offered the Crystal Palace at the end of the season, and while they didn’t say no, they also didn’t say yes.
As things stand, the French website explain the 32-year-old is waiting for the Europa League finalists to return before making his mind up, and a move to the south of France remains his summer priority.
However, if that doesn’t materialise, there is still the option of signing a new short-term deal with the Eagles, who appear keen to keep him around a while longer.
Since there have been no talks between Marseille and Cabaye as of yet, that remains the likeliest option for now, but that could all change if Rudi Garcia finally decides to pick up the phone and give his good friend a quick call.
