Newcastle United defender Achraf Lazaar has told the Italian media his agent is working on a solution on a transfer which could result in a move to the MLS.
The Newcastle United owned player is currently on loan with Serie A side Benevento.
TMW have reported on comments Lazaar has made when quizzed about a move to the MLS: “I confirm this possibility, even if I prefer not to mention the names. Going to America is not easy from a regulatory point of view, but with my new agent Roberto De Fanti we are looking for the best solution.”
Lazaar only featured 10 times for Newcastle United last season, and his exit last summer came as no surprise.
With Rafael Bentiez bringing in Kenedy from Chelsea on loan in the last transfer window, and possibly making the move permanent, it seems the 26 year old Morocco international isn’t in the Spaniard’s long term plans.
It’s looking likely Lazzar will return to Newcastle United in the summer as his move to Italy hasn’t gone as planned, but another move would then be on the cards in the next window.
The 26 year old has played just seven league games since arriving in Serie A.
