Watford have allowed Luis Suárez to go out on loan ever since they signed him from Colombian side Leones in 2017.

After spending the last campaign on loan at Gimnàstic de Tarragona in the second division of Spanish football, the striker joined Real Zaragoza for the current campaign.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a good start to the season, scoring four goals and registering an assist in six league appearances this term. The Spanish press have hailed his performances and suggested his addition has given ‘another dimension’ to the Segunda Division side.

Suárez started for Gimnàstic de Tarragona in both matches against Zaragoza last season, but he failed to find the back of the net.

Zaragoza defender Simone Grippo was impressed with the Watford owned player’s display and had urged the club’s director of football Lalo to make an effort to sign the Colombian.

Grippo has explained this to local newspaper El Periódico de Aragón when they asked as which signing has impressed him the most.

He said: “The level of signings has been very good. Luis Suarez, for example, when we played with Nástic [Gimnàstic de Tarragona] here, at the break I already asked about him because he seemed very good.

“They told me that he belonged to Watford and after the game I told Lalo. He [Lalo] already told me that they knew him well and that he had many suitors.

“I told him, if you can, go ‘full’ for him, and I already told him that he reminded me of Diego Costa in fighting spirit and in the intensity that he puts into each match. It is a great success that he has come.”
