Over the course of the January transfer window, a story emerged in the French press claiming that Crystal Palace were interested in Rayan Aït-Nouri.

The young left-back, currently at Angers in Ligue 1, is reportedly represented by a certain Jorge Mendes, and has attracted a lot of attention around Europe, even catching the eye of Manchester City back when he was 16.

Either way, the January report suggested Crystal Palace were pushing hard to secure the services of the youngster, but nothing came of it, as he remained with the French club for the second half of the campaign.

That doesn’t mean the interest is gone, however, as Le Foot look at his situation, mentioning both Palace and Atlético Madrid are still circling, and that Angers turned away a €30m offer from a ‘high up the table Premier League club’ in January.

However, they also, according to their own information, explain the player ‘could leave against a minimum fee of €35m’ in the summer.

That should give Roy Hodgson and co. a good idea of what they need to put together if they want Aït-Nouri, and then it’ll be up to the player to decide whether he leaves the comfort of his club with a near guaranteed starting spot, or if he tries something new.

Before fracturing his jaw back in January, the youngster had made 17 appearances in Ligue 1 for Angers, picking up three assists along the way.
