Back in May, a story emerged that Crystal Palace were interested in Stade de Reims’ Dion Lopy to bolster their midfield.

They were joined by other clubs, and while the Eagles could easily afford what the Ligue 1 side would want for their player, they have yet to move.

This has allowed more competition to come in, as Wiw Sport report that Almeria are now making their move to beat Crystal Palace to the punch.

The news comes after the Spanish side sealed the exit of El Bilal Touré to Atalanta, meaning they have money in their pocket to compete with the Premier League side.

It’s explained that despite him being on pre-season with his club, Lopy ‘could leave Reims this summer’ if the right offer comes in.

However, Almeria might have come forward, but ‘nothing is done’, giving time for Crystal Palace to make their move.

The La Liga side have yet to make contact with the player’s entourage, and it’s recalled that Crystal Palace and Borussia Dortmund are ‘interested’ in the services provided by the 21-year-old.

What could work in Almeria’s favour is their ability to guarantee him more game time, which is something Roy Hodgson will have to think about before ordering his club to pull the trigger on any deal.
