Despite the Italian media being very optimistic about the chances of AS Roma landing Moise Kean on loan from Everton this summer, the Italian club might not be as confident.

We say this after Corriere dello Sport report on Wednesday the Serie A club are looking at alternatives in case they cannot convince the Toffees of doing a deal on their terms.

The latest name on the list is that of Nahuel Bustos, who currently plays for Club América Talleres in Argentina, as Roma have tested the waters for the 21-year-old, who is 80% owned by the club.

Their asking price is currently €12m, and would represent a more affordable option to Kean, who would likely cost over €20m either this year or the next (depending on whether a loan is agreed first).

Either way, they haven’t given up on the Everton forward, as ‘contacts are continuing’ with the Toffees regarding a possible deal, and it’s made clear the avenue leading to the former Juventus starlet remains ‘very hot’.

It might not mean much right now, but the fact Roma are looking elsewhere could be a sign the Premier League club might not be on the same page as their Italian counterparts right now.

After all, you don’t create a plan B if plan A is a slam dunk…
