Dumped rather unceremoniously by new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly after a slow start to the season, Thomas Tuchel is now a free agent.

The American wanted a fresh start at Stamford Bridge, and quickly brought in Graham Potter from Brighton to replace the German, who has already been solicited by more than one club for his services.

Despite the recent setback in his career at Chelsea, the manager remains a highly respected man in his field, which is why Bayer Leverkusen knocked on his door.

This is according to Sport 1, who claim that with the pressure mounting on Gerardo Seoane at the Bundesliga club, those in charge have started to look around for possible replacements.

The news comes courtesy of the German outlet’s journalist Patrick Berger, who took to Twitter to reveal that ‘contact was made with Thomas Tuchel’ about possibly taking over.

However, the former Chelsea manager ‘is not interested’ in the job, perhaps wanting to take a break from it all or simply aiming for greener pastures as Leverkusen currently sit 17th in the Bundesliga after eight games, winning just one of those, drawing two and losing the other five.
