It’s incredible what one loan deal can do to a player’s career, as Alexander Sørloth has gone from almost being forgotten at Crystal Palace to being the centre of attention of a number of big clubs around Europe thanks to his success at Trabzonspor.
The now 24-year-old arrived from FC Midtjylland back in 2018, but only ever managed to make 20 appearances (one goal) for the Eagles before being sent on loan to KAA Gent in Belgium.
Things went a bit better there, as he found the back of the net five times in 22 appearances, but it wasn’t until this season in Turkey that he showed the world what he’s really capable of.
Leading the line at Trabzonspor, Sørloth has scored 25 goals in 39 games in all competitions, which has reportedly attracted attention from the likes of Napoli.
We’ve already covered a couple of articles on the matter, the latest of which came from Aksam, who believed the Süper Lig side would look to activate the €6m clause they have in the player’s loan deal to make the move permanent and then sell him to the highest bidder.
One of those is likely to be Napoli, as Ciro Venerato, journalist for Rai Sport, told CalcioNapoli24 on Monday that ‘confirmations arrive’ from the Serie A side’s interest in the Norway international.
He believes a ‘foreigner’ will be landing in the south of Italy this summer, and it’s a toss up between the Crystal Palace loanee or Zenit’s Sardar Azmoun, who hasn’t been quite as prolific, with 14 goals in 29 appearances in Russia.
