Last week, we covered Gianluca Di Marzio’s update about Napoli’s interest in Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour.

The Italian side are intent on landing the player and an initial bid was rejected, with Di Marzio claiming that another offer will be made.

Corriere dello Sport have an update about the midfielder, stating that Brighton had announced the rejection of Napoli’s first bid ‘strategically’.

In response, Napoli have sought Gilmour’s approval for the move and that could prove to be a trump card in the saga. The Italians see that as clear progress.

However, the crux here is whatever the second offer is and it’s highly likely that it’s still below what Brighton would want to accept.

Brighton are generally known to be a difficult club to negotiate with in the market. Napoli’s confidence about the deal might be a bit misplaced.

There’s no reason for the Seagulls to want to sell the 23-year-old for a discounted fee and Napoli will need to be realistic with their offers.
