On Friday, Corriere dello Sport stated Arsenal director Edu is waiting for Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee with open arms. It was also said the striker’s agent Kia Joorabchian favours taking him to the Premier League in the summer window.
AC Milan have also shown interest in the 22-year-old and will face competition from the Gunners to secure his services.
The Serie A side have to find a way to ‘overcome Arsenal’, and Calciomercato now brings the latest.
Milan officials Geoffrey Moncada and Antonio D’Ottavio, along with Zlatan Ibrahimović, are all keen on Zirkzee. In fact, the report states they are ready to exercise his €40m clause next month, once they get Zirkzee’s approval.
Earlier reports said the clause is only valid for his former club, Bayern Munich, and the fee would be much higher [€60m+] for other clubs. Over the past few days, Corriere, DAZN journalist Orazio Accomando and other sources from Italy have insisted the €40m clause is valid for everyone.
Calciomercato state Milan are aware of Zirkzee’s preference to continue in Italy, and have to convince Joorabchian, if they have to beat Arsenal.
Sky Deutschland journalist Patrick Berger took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to explain that Arsenal, Milan and Juventus are all interested in the player.
Berger adds Zirkzee wants to stay in Serie A, where he’s in ‘advanced talks’ with Milan. A final decision hasn’t been made just yet.
Even though Arsenal seem to be in the driving seat, the situation could change if Milan find a way to convince Joorabchian. The Gunners may also have to rush, considering the San Siro club are ready to activate his clause in June.
