An internal battle at VfB Stuttgart over whether they should spend their new money or be cautious is also a part of why a move for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Deniz Undav is proving to be drawn out.

That’s according to Fussball.News, who cover the striker again today and one of the reasons the German side simply aren’t just paying what Brighton want.

They explain that doubts are starting to grow at Stuttgart about Undav and whether they will be able to get him back from Brighton after his successful loan spell last season.

The German club are keen to get him back and have the money to do so after qualifying for the Champions League last season but there is a debate internally as to how they should act.

First of all, the club and those who run it are not accustomed to the ‘new spheres’ and ‘fishing in the pond with the big guys’ and so are being cautious in the new territory they find themselves in.

Then there is a split in decision over how they should act, with some wanting the club to be a bit more offensive and spend their money and others wanting a more cautious approach to matters.

That is a good balance to have but it means that negotiations can be dragged out and that has certainly been the case with Brighton.

The German club have set a deadline for the matter to be resolved, although they’re not giving anyone who asks the exact date. The indication, though, is that it will be sooner rather than later so that if Undav isn’t at the club by then, they can move on to other targets.
