Earlier this week, the Italian media highlighted Manchester City’s interest in Partizan Belgrade youngster Matija Popovic.

Even though AC Milan are said to be in advanced talks for his signing, it was said they should ‘watch out’ for the competition from Pep Guardiola’s side, as they could make an ‘official offer’ soon.

CalcioMercato.it today shares an update on the situation, and it sounds like Manchester City could have a chance to win this race.

It’s claimed that despite Milan’s advanced steps to get the signing done, there’s ‘hesitation’ at the club about occupying their last non-EU spot in the squad.

That’s why the Rossoneri should be concerned about the other ‘clubs at the window’, and that includes Manchester City, as Popovic is ‘particularly appreciated’ by the Sky Blues.

Popovic, who had impressive numbers for Partizan’s youth ranks this season, has a contract expiring at the end of the year. As a free agent, he has the decision in his hands, and it sounds like it will really depend on how Milan will act in the coming days.
