Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha failed to score in his previous two loan spells at VfL Wolfsburg and Middlesbrough.

The Citizens owned player is currently on loan at Anderlecht and has turned things around this season, scoring 17 goals and registering two assists in all competitions.

Het Belang van Limburg on Thursday explain Kompany led side will ‘try everything’ to keep the Germany U21 international, even if it ‘seemed mission impossible’.

Two things must be fulfilled for Anderlecht to extend Nmecha’s stay. The first is for them to qualify for the Champions League and the other is for the player to sign a new deal with Pep Guardiola’s side.

Nmecha’s contract at the Etihad expires in 2022. The report states the Premier League side are ‘leaning’ towards offering an extension and the frontman could sign a new contract as he ‘continues to dream’ of making his way to Manchester City’s first team.

This is where the ‘opportunity lies’ for Anderlecht and Nmecha ‘wants to stay’ if the Belgian side make it to the preliminary round of the Champions League.

The attacker wants to continue where he is, despite interest from elsewhere, mainly because of disappointing experiences of the past.

A point against Sint-Truidense VV in the upcoming tie will help Anderlecht get closer towards a place in the Europe’s top tier competition. Then only a contract extension at City will be pending.
