Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel has emerged as a transfer target for Manchester United, according to a surprise claim from Italy.
The 29-year-old has been the first-choice stopper for the Serie A side since he joined them from Spezia in 2022. This season, he’s kept seven clean sheets and conceded 27 goals from 27 matches.
Quotidiano Sportivo have a report on the situation of a few Lazio players and when discussing the Italian, Manchester United are mentioned.
Felipe Anderson’s deal expires in the summer and the Biancocelesti risk losing him for free. Lazio chairman Claudio Lotito is working on renewing his contract and also wants to define the situations with other players to avoid similar panic in the future.
Quotidiano Sportivo say the Italian club have to ‘watch out for Manchester United’ and their sirens for the goalkeeper, as they are ‘pressing’ to sign him. It’s suggested a new deal with an improved salary could help Lazio fend off interest from the Premier League.
Manchester United signed André Onana and Altay Bayındır last summer, and the latter hasn’t yet made an appearance for the Red Devils. Unless the Turkey international were to leave, it wouldn’t make sense for Ten Hag’s side to look for another goalkeeper.
It’s possible Provedel’s camp have dragged Manchester United into the mix to get a better deal from Lazio.
