Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville has managed eight appearances in all competitions this season, which includes only one start that came in the EFL Cup win over Fulham last September.
The winger made only one appearance for the Whites [against West Ham United in the FA Cup in January] in 2022 and has been forced to settle for a place on the bench in the league.
In need for regular game time, the 20-year-old wanted a move elsewhere in January and Hamburger SV came forward to take him on a loan deal until the end of the season. He was open to a temporary switch to Germany, but Leeds refused to let him leave.
Despite the disappointment in the winter market, HSV are ‘still hot’ for the Netherlands U21 international, according to Hamburger Morgenpost.
They point out how the ‘lightning-fast’ attacker has not found a place at Leeds, even after Jesse Marsch was appointed as Marcelo Bielsa’s successor.
Despite the situation at Elland Road, the HSV leaders have the Dutchman on their transfer list and their ‘interest has not cooled’ in the Dutchman. They will need to strengthen their attack in the next window and Summerville seems to be the right fit for the German side.
Bielsa was reportedly not keen on letting Summerville leave in the winter market. It remains to be seen whether Marsch would be open to allowing the player leave, if HSV show interest to sign him in the summer.
