Leeds United forward Chris Wood is continuing to be linked with a move to Besiktas in the Turkish media. Besiktas are keen to bring in a forward this summer, and see the Leeds United star as a cheap alternative to other targets.
Yesterday we covered reports from Turkey that Wood is a target for the Turkish champions, and that they’re confident of signing the New Zealand international.
Besiktas have reportedly been scouting the Leeds United man in recent months, and were impressed by the player’s performances last season, when he was the Championship’s top scorer.
It’s been claimed by Fotospor that Besiktas have turned to the Leeds United attacker because they’ve been priced out of a move for Benfica’s Kostas Mitroglou.
The Greek international has rebuilt his career after his forgettable spell with Fulham a few seasons ago, and has become a key player for Benfica. Besiktas haven’t give up their pursuit of Mitroglou, but Wood is now being seen as a cheaper alternative.
As we pointed out on Monday, Besiktas are likely to have something of a shock when they realise how much Chris Wood is valued by Leeds United. However determined they may be, the plan is likely to be shattered once it’s realised they’ve no chance of getting him for less than £15-20m.
