West Ham have been repeatedly linked with Ryad Boudebouz this summer, with reports especially building over the past few days. Montpellier slapped a €15m asking price on Boudebouz, which West Ham haven’t been prepared to match.
The club’s fans have pressured the owners on social media, but to no avail, and now it looks like Boudebouz is going elsewhere… for a much lower amount.
Tuesday’s edition of L’Equipe reports that Boudebouz is close to completing a move to Real Betis, after the Spanish side offered €8.5m. That amount is relative transfer pennies for West Ham, but a huge deal for Betis.
The Premier League club could quite easily come in and take the bidding to €11m+, which would likely see Betis slide out of the picture, but there doesn’t seem to be an imminent expectation of that happening.
Boudebouz would likely suit West Ham well, but as it stands, the club seem happy to let him go elsewhere.
If West Ham didn’t want to pay €15m, and they’ve not swooped in now it’s gone down to €8.5m, then what were they holding out for?
